The Philadelphia Chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, would like to thank you for supporting our Twenty-Third Annual Banquet on March 19th 2005.

Due to the presence of representatives from organizations like yours, this year’s Philly ADC Banquet was an overwhelming success. We are proud to announce that we had our most diversified group of attendees ever. Many new faces represented numerous local NGOs أ¢â‚¬â€œ including, but not limited to: Al-Awda Pennsylvania, The Friends of Philly (AFSC), Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), Playgrounds for Palestine (PFP), St. George Orthodox Church, St. Charbel Maronite  Church, St. James Church of Collegeville, CAIR Philly, Al Bustan Seeds of Culture, The Jewish Peace Network (PJPN), SUSTAIN Philadelphia, Philadelphia International House, Pitt Students for Justice in Palestine, Penn Arab Students Society (PASS), the Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies Department of the University of Villanova, the Middle East Center of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as Professors and students from Drexel and Temple Universities.

Attendees representing various Arab-American, Muslim-American, and American communities came from as far as Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and Virginia to hear Dr. Mounzer Sleiman, political-military analyst and expert in U.S. national security affairs, address the Philadelphia community. The evening consisted of short speeches given by leading Arab-Americans & local community leaders, an enchanting folkloric dabkeh dance performance by DC Dabkeh www.dcdabkeh.com  and live music by “Arabian Nights Entertainment”. Special guests, NJ State Senator Fred Maden, NJ State Assemblyman David Mayer, NJ State Chairman of Human Relations Council Jim Peeler, Gloucester County Human Relations Chairman Philip Warner, and Camden County Human Relations Co-Chair Randy Ross, were present to witness  Dr. Nader Hebela & Mrs. Amal Atieh Jubran receive Philly ADC’s Annual Activism Award given by the president of the chapter Mrs. Suzan Muaddi for their selfless work with Palestine Children’s Relief Fund www.pcrf.org

The Philadelphia ADC Chapter successfully held its twenty-second annual fund raising dinner on Saturday October 11, 2003 at the Renaissance Hotel. Addressing the audience as keynote speaker was Lebanese Ambassador to the USA, H.E Farid Abboud, and ADC National President Hon. Mary Rose Oakar. Both stressed to the crowd the importance of Arab - American involvement and activism in their communities.

During the ceremonies, an award was presented by then - ADC Philadelphia Chapter President Mr. Tawfiq Barqawi to Mr. Ahmad bu Zied for establishing Palestine Media Watch, which promotes fair and accurate coverage of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in US mainstream media. PMWATCH is an organization ran by volunteers. With 39 local chapters across the United States, it is engaged in regular pro-active actions that encourage various segments of the media with those who write the news and comment on it; to be more familiar with the Palestinian perspective. www.pmwatch.org

A second award was presented by then - Philadelphia Vice President Mrs. Suzan Muaddi to Mrs. Annie Selden Annab for writing three to five letters daily on behalf of the Palestinian Right of Return ( www.al-awda.org ) to local & national media outlets. Many of her letters have been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Associated Press, National Magazines, CNN, NPR, Voice of America, etc.
